Where              Five Islands Secondary College – Military Road, Port Kembla

When                Tuesday August 23, 2016           

Why                  The Illawarra Schools Trades Roadshow provides Year 9 and 10 students with an opportunity for HANDS-ON experience of the wide variety of trade careers and vocations on offer.


Tradespeople from a diverse range of vocations will be presenting interactive experiences and will ‘coach’ students on simple tasks as an introduction to the trades, including: Automotive, Administration, Animal Science, Architecture, Baking, Barista, Beauty, Brick laying, Carpentry, Childcare, Decorative painting, Defence careers, Digital Media, Electrical, Engineering, Fitness, Flight Attendant, Floristry, Hairdressing, Horticulture, Life guard, Marine operations, Nursing, Panel repairs, Plumbing, Welding and more.


Following participation, students will be better informed of the wide range of opportunities available to them when they leave school & head into the workforce.


They will also be better informed to select pathways for completing their senior secondary schooling including School VET courses, TAFE VET courses, School Based Apprenticeships & Traineeships plus training & flexible pathways offered by Five Islands Secondary College.


Each school session will run for 90 minutes, with 5 sessions run over the day

Students will undergo a briefing session & safety induction & be split into groups for chosen trade tours
