WORKPLACE LEARNING EVENT INFORMATION
CONNECTING YOUNG PEOPLE TO THEIR FUTURE
Every year Workplace Learning hosts a number of events that are designed to educate and provide recognition to students, parents, educators and our network of supportive businesses. Our annual events include:
ILLAWARRA CAREERS EXPO
Held annually, this two day event connects over 5,500 young people and adults who are seeking quality information and advice from over 100 exhibitors.
High school students from the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands as well as members of the public attend this Expo, where they are able to meet and build connections with local, state, and national organisations, employers, universities, registered training organisations, group training organisations and industry professionals.
ILLAWARRA APPRENTICESHIP, TRAINEESHIP AND JOBS EXPO
This Expo supports the local community and provides attendees with expert industry, education, and training advice. This Expo empowers our local youth, encourages growth in various industries and contributes to addressing skill shortages both locally and nationally.
Focusing on apprenticeships, traineeships and jobs, this Expo is primarily attended by young people who are looking to take steps into the workforce and learn more about career pathways available to them.
CAREERSFEST
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF WOLLONGONG, TAFE NSW, CAREERS ADVISERS AND NSW DOE RIEP
CareersFest connects exhibitors from universities, TAFE, registered training organisations, group training organisations as well as employers and industry bodies/associations with young people in regional NSW. In 2024 and 2025, CareersFest was hosted in Batemans Bay, and in 2026 the event will be moving to Bega.
This Expo brings high quality information to over 600 young people from the South Coast and Far South Coast who are eager to learn about the opportunities available to them for their futures.
EXCELLENCE IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) AWARDS
Workplace Learning’s Schools Excellence in VET Awards were inaugurated in 1998 to recognise, reward and promote VET and the pursuit of excellence by students completing VET subjects as part of the HSC in the Illawarra, Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and South Coast and Far South Coast High Schools, TAFE NSW or other Registered Training Organisations.
