Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Did you know that Vocational Education & Training (VET & EVET) Courses will award you an industry recognised qualification that also contributes to the Higher School Certificate (HSC)? These qualifications have been designed by employers and provide a very practical way to get skills. They also provide a head start into the industry of your choice.

VET Courses…The Basics…

  • Available to students in years 11 & 12 and in some areas 9 & 10
  • Count as units of study toward your HSC
  • Taught at school or TAFE (EVET), or by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs)
  • Includes mandatory workplacement
  • Provides a nationally recognised qualification (i.e. Certificate II Construction) from Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

  • Provides a head start in a career and gain employability skills
  • Provides pathways to further study, traineeships and apprenticeships
  • Can contribute to your ATAR if the course is classified as an Industry Curriculum Framework (ICF)
  • Taught by teachers who have direct links into industry

Industry Curriculum Frameworks & Workplacement

All ICF Frameworks will require you to complete workplacement for each year you are enrolled in the course. Below is a list of all Board of Studies approved ICFs:
